DNONIE Framework Service Provider
Customer Name: Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE)
The Brief: NIE have an extensive overhead line network and required considerable 11kV and 33kV wood pole construction and maintenance. A significant additional requirement was for the replacement of substandard low voltage under eaves conductors.
The Solution: IUS based its headquarters in Ballymena and from this location operated throughout the province. We integrated with NIE and, as well as overhead line refurbishment, we would survey, negotiate wayleaves, design and construct new high voltage overhead lines. Specialist teams were also set up to successfully deliver the low voltage under eaves programme.
The Results: Over a number of years excellent client relations were forged. The NIE management team recognised our capability and diversified the scope of works to be delivered. We employed up to 150 staff, many recruited and trained locally.
